Discover How Article Marketing Can Increase Backlinks 10X

20 01 2010

So, I have been doing a lot of Article Marketing over the past few weeks. I regularly post on Ezine Articles, as well as a lot of others as well. You see, writing content for Article Directories is not exactly a hidden technique. It is a technique that is well known, just that a lot of webmasters choose not to go down that path because it seems like a whole lot of work. Too much for them to do on their small budget.

Here is something that should prick your ears at least. If you don’t think you can write articles, then how do you convey a persona to your friends when you talk to them in person or over the phone? Have you ever taught someone how to do something, or given someone advice? If the answer is yes, then you can write articles.

Tell Me About Article Marketing

Article Marketing is one of my strong points. I love everything about it, I love writing great articles that are keyword optimized, and I love seeing the response that I get from my articles. As a by-product of this, I love the traffic that my websites receive as a result of Article Marketing, and I love the backlinks that are earned, which ultimately will make my website more powerful and competitive.

So, here are a few tips for article marketing for you. Your Article Marketing should be one of the largest parts of your SEO Campaign, so make sure that you think it through, set a plan, then most importantly, put that plan in action with vigour.

The Importance of Titles

Titles are important. Pick a title that is alluring, try opening phrases such as “Discover”, or “Take Advantage” or anything else that seems to inspire people who want to learn something. Remember to use your main keyword in this title, as this will always help you rank better for your articles in the search engines. If you are having trouble trying to find an alluring title, remember that the best resource for alluring titles for Article Marketing is Amazon. Look in the e-books section, and have a look at the best sellers. Analyse their titles. Do not copy them, but use them to your advantage.

The Article Body

As far as the body itself goes, remember always to evenly spread out your keywords. Place your main keyword in the first 60 characters, and for the average 500 word article, try not to use your keyword more than 5 or 6 times. Ezine articles will always refuse submission if they keyword density is higher than 2%, not only that, but your article will more than likely come across as spam to the search engines, so be aware of this!

Remember with the article to be informative. Use a writing style that is not only appropriate for your market, but one that fits your persona. One that will attract people, and possibly even help convince them to sign up to your RSS feed, or click on your link in the author credit box.

Author Credit Box Optimization

On that note, when it comes to Article Marketing, one of the most important aspects is the author credit box. Remember, this is what will be the turning point for a reader, whether or not they visit your website. Not only that, but from an SEO stand point, this is where your backlink will live. I prefer to only use keywords in anchor text for my backlinks, this is a nice way to make backlinks look more natural to the search engines if you already have a lot of link based anchor text elsewhere. Also remember to write something compelling. Ask a question. Imply that maybe the answer to the question lies at your website. Be slightly persuasive, but don’t shout at people.

Ultimately, Article Marketing is something that you, as someone who is kicking off an SEO campaign, should be looking into a lot more. Think of the benefits. Backlinks. Persona. Trust building. Now let me ask you something. Why aren’t you marketing articles already?

All the best.
